Symposium on Arid Region Hydrology and Water Resource

Management

502 Qilian Building, Lanzhou University

3-5 June, 2024

Climate change and human activities have significantly altered the eco-hydrological processes and water cycles in global arid regions. Over the past decades, despite tremendous achievements in hydrological science, water resources management, and technology, water scarcity remains a global challenge, particularly in arid regions.

This symposium aims: 1) to enhance our understanding of advances, challenges and opportunities on dryland hydrological research and water resources management; 2) foster interactions and collaborations among participants; 3) explore comprehensive solutions to achieve sustainable water sustainability in arid regions.

Specifically, the symposium will focus on the following topics: 1) advances in eco-hydrological processes in arid regions under the combined influence of climate change and human activities; 2) theory and methods of sustainable management of water resources; 3) ecological, hydrological, and social effects of large-scale ecological restoration projects in arid regions.
