Professor Claude Hillaire-Marcel is a lifetime emeritus professor of the Geotop, University of Quebec in Montreal and a world-famous epigenetic geochemist, paleoclimatologist and paleoceanographer. As the founder of Geotop, hepioneered the research on isotope geochemistry of climate and oceanic change mechanisms at different time scales, particularly in the Arctic and North Atlantic isotope hydrodynamics and paleocean hydrodynamics research. He has published more than 250 papers in top journals such as Science, Natureand their subordinate academic serials, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Quaternary Science Reviews(QSR) and Geophysical Research Letters, with more than 400 citations per year.He has served as Director of the French Quaternary Geological Laboratory, Director of the Geotop and the Global Change Program of the International Education Association. He is currently a member of the Royal Canadian Society and editor-in-chief of QSR.
