Li Xiaoqiang is a researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Vertebrate Evolution and Human Origins, CAS, Director of the Quaternary Commission, Deputy Director of the Geology Branch of the Soil Society, and Director of the Paleobotany Branch of the Soil Society. He is mainly engaged in the research of Quaternary vegetation, climate change, environmental archaeology and early human activities, and has successively carried out research on the vegetation succession and pattern of the Loess Plateau, the Late Cenozoic monsoon variability in East Asia, the climatic events and variability since the last glacial epoch, the origins and propagation of agriculture as well as its impacts and adaptations, etc. He has presided over one major direction project and one major special project of CAS, four surface projects of the Foundation Committee, one secondary project of "973", and three special projects, as well as participated in the major projects of the Foundation Committee and the projects of innovative groups. He was awarded the first prize of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology, and the Advanced Individual of Innovation of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
