From 7–12 April 2019, Professors TingjunZhang, JinhuiMa, YanyunNian, JianBi, XiaodanWuand Yi Zhangparticipatedthe EGU (European Geosciences Union) General Assembly 2019, Vienna, Austria, sharing and exchanging academic ideas.
The EGU General Assembly 2019, the largest geosciences meeting in Europe, brings together thousands of geoscientists from all over the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary and space sciences. At the conference 16,273 scientists from 113 countries participated, of which 53% were under the age of 35 years.
During this meeting, the teachers of this institute mainly exchanged ideas of geological hazards application, remote sensing, and global climate change, presenting their latest work. This meeting provides an opportunity to talk to researchers, learn about new developments and find out about the latest discoveries in a variety of areas, such as climate, space and planetary science missions, natural disasters, plastic pollution, and especially the geographic information science.
Additionally, these teacherswere invited to visit theRIEGL Company at Vienna, which is the most famous lidar manufacturer in the world. Dr. LingxiaoZhu, RIEGL China Regional Manager, introduced the application of airborne lidar.
