Prof. Otgonbayar et al. from Mongolia visited Lanzhou University

Invited by Prof. Xiaozhong Huang of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Key Laboratory of Western China's Environmental Systems (Ministry of Education), Lanzhou University, Prof. Demberel Otgonbayar and Assoc. Prof. Chuluunbat Munkhbayar of Khovd university, Mongolia, and Prof. Baasankhuu Tserenkhand of the National University of Mongolia visited Lanzhou university from May 20th to 26th, 2019 and attended the “Workshop on human-environment interactions in the middle-high latitudes and high altitudes of Eurasia”.

On May 20-21, Prof. Otgonbayar et al. discussed and exchanged ideas on some data obtained from the fieldwork in Mongolia in March this year and conducted in-depth discussions on archaeological sites and cultural evolution in western Mongolia with Prof. Xiaozhong Huang. Then, the guests visited the Key Laboratory of Western China's Environmental Systems (Ministry of Education), Lanzhou University accompanied by Prof. Xiaozhong Huang. Moreover, during their stay in Lanzhou, Prof. Otgonbayar et al. also visited the State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Sciences, Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and had a detail understanding about laboratory instruments and research work by the introduction of senior engineer Wentao Du, Yaping Liu, and Dr. Haipeng Wang. Assoc. Prof. Munkhbayar visited the "Gansu Painted Pottery", "Gansu Silk Road Civilization" and "Gansu Paleontology Fossil" exhibition halls in Gansu Provincial Museum.

On May 25-26, Prof. Otgonbayar et al. attended the “Workshop on human-environment interactions in the middle-high latitudes and high altitudes of Eurasia”. On the morning of May 25th, Assoc. Prof. Munkhbayar gave a presentation on a series of achievements including excavated stone tools, animal bones and prehistoric culture in the investigation of archaeological sites in western Mongolia. In the afternoon, Prof. Otgonbayar shared the research results about climate change and glacial change in the Altai region of Mongolia. Through this visit, the Mongolian scholars have a further understanding of the development of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, especially the progress of physical geography research, which lay the groundwork for the next cooperation in the research field between China and Mongolia.
