On April 27, 2021, Professor Dong Wenjie, Dean of the School of Atmospheric Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University, gave a lecture on "Introduction to climate change science" to our postgraduate students. His enthusiastic teaching methods and rich and vivid teaching contents deeply attracted our students.

This course takes "climate change prediction" as the theme. It mainly introduces the frontier achievements of climate change research from five aspects: introduction of the climate model, application of model comparison plan and results in IPCC assessment report, assessment method of the climate model, assessment and prediction of the global model, regional climate model and its prediction. The main conclusions of IPCC AR5 show that the impact of human activities on the climate system is obvious. The greater the human disturbance to the climate, the greater the risk, and the impact is irreversible; Human society is taking effective measures to deal with climate change. Studies have shown that the impact of human activities on climate is generally warming, and the impacts of this result on the world are multifaceted. Therefore, it is necessary to predict climate change and take corresponding measures. This course will help students understand the latest progress and hot issues of climate change prediction.

During the course, the students actively thought about and discussed the questions raised by Prof. Dong. At the end of the course, students expressed their thanks to Professor Dong Wenjie with warm applause. We believe that learning this course can lay a solid foundation for further in-depth research on global climate change in the future, help to understand the latest achievements and progress in international negotiations on climate change and China's emission reduction actions, as well as the future development direction, and encourage us to explore the vast scientific world.
