At the invitation of Professor Nan Zhongren, Professor Wang Shengli and Associate Professor Hu Yahu, Professor Yao Jun and Associate Professor Cui Weihua of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) came to our university for an academic visit and exchange on June 27, 2021, and held a meeting in room 1009, Guanyun building, Lanzhou University. The academic reports entitled "Thoughts on Several Issues of the Theory and Technology of Mine Pollution Prevention and Control in my country " were carried out by Professor Yao Jun and was presided over by Professor Wang Shengli.
In this report, Professor Yao Jun started from the pollution status of the non-ferrous metal industry and the challenges of pollution control in mining areas, combined with the status of bulk solid waste pollution and utilization, and based on the concepts of "risk management and control" and "use waste to treat waste", introduced the research and development of mine pollution prevention and control technology developed by the team in detail, namely "soilless spraying microbial in-situ mineralization control technology", "multi-solid waste synergistic microbial geochemical in-situ mineralization control technology", and "all solid waste new type all tailings paste cemented filling technology". For each technology, Professor Yao Jun gave a wonderful explanation from the basic principles, preliminary investigations of technology R&D, R&D process, effect evaluation of actual cases, and current related scientific issues.
After the report, Professor Yao Jun communicated with Professor Wang Shengli, Associate Professor Hu Yahu, Professor Zhao Baojin of the University of South Africa, Researcher Liu Jinpeng of the Gansu Academy of Sciences, Senior Engineer Xu Shenghui, Associate Professor Wang Yan of Lanzhou University of Technology, and the postgraduate students. After the meeting, Prof. Yao Jun, Professor Zhao Baojin, Associate Professor Cui Weihua, Engineer Qian Wanyong and Professor Wang Shengli conducted a field investigation on the Baiyin Mine in Gansu. During the investigation, many related scientific issues were raised, and new ideas were also raised from the perspective of geological minerals. The ecological restoration ideas pointed out the importance of microbiology, chemistry, biology, geology and environmental science and engineering in environmental restoration research and emphasized that pollution prevention and control of non-ferrous metal mines in the Yellow River Basin and ecological restoration are also to ensure the key to ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
