Researcher Ren Jiawen teaches "Cryospheric Science" Course to Undergraduate Students
Release time:2022-09-23 22:55:59

On the afternoons of September 5th and 19th, 2022, Researcher Ren Jiawen from the State Key Laboratory of Cryosphere Science, Northwest Institute of Ecological and Environmental Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences, taught the course "Cryosphere Science" to our undergraduate students of Physical Geography and Resource Environment in the class of 2020.

The researcher introduced the classification basis of cryosphere thermodynamics and morphology, geographic distribution, and zonal distribution rules, and focused on the physical processes of the cryosphere, physicochemical properties, and electromagnetic characteristics of glaciers, permafrost, snow, and other cryosphere elements. It was pointed out that the study of the physical processes of the cryosphere is very important, and is of great significance to the development and evolution of the cryospheric elements. The course not only increased the students' knowledge of cryosphere physics, but more importantly, cultivated their dialectical thinking - to be good at identifying problems, questioning boldly, and approaching scientific research with humility and rigor.
