On 26 September and 10 October 2022, Researcher Kang Shichang, Vice President of the Northwest Institute of Ecological and Environmental Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cryospheric Science, taught the course "Introduction to Cryospheric Science" to our 2020 undergraduate students majoring in Physical Geography and Resource Environment.
Researcher Kang Shichang explained the subject framework of cryospheric chemistry to the students, comprehensively explained the background knowledge of the composition and chemical composition of the atmosphere, the sources and processes of cryospheric chemistry, the climatic and environmental effects of cryospheric chemistry, glacier chemistry, permafrost chemistry, river and lake ice chemistry, and sea ice chemistry, and also emphasized that the development of observational and experimental techniques, the application of high technology and the development of cryospheric models have realized integrated research in cryospheric science and promoted the rapid development of cryospheric science. He also shared the process of coring Everest glaciers and his work on Antarctic research, taking students into the world of ice and snow to experience and enjoy nature!
