At the invitation of the Department of Geography, College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, Professor Zhou Guoqing from Guilin University of Technology came to our school for academic exchange on September 21-22. On the afternoon of September 22, Professor Zhou gave an academic report on the Progress of LiDAR Waveform Decomposition in Sounding in Conference Room 1615, Guanyun Building, Chengguan Campus. The report was presided over by Professor Geng Haopeng of the College of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Some teachers, graduate students and undergraduates from the School of Resources and Environment and the School of Atmospheric Sciences listened to the report.

Professor Zhou Guoqing introduced the working principle of water depth detection LiDAR, the research progress of echo signal waveform decomposition at home and abroad, the Gaussian waveform decomposition algorithm, and the characteristics of sounding LIDAR software. Professor Zhou first explained in detail the principle of water depth LiDAR detection, including the use of dual-band laser LiDAR method, that is, the red laser and the green laser are emitted at the same time, in order to more effectively detect water depth. Secondly, the principle of waveform decomposition and the analysis of five kinds of waveform decomposition methods in the world are introduced, and the research process in this field at home and abroad is discussed. The third part deals with Gaussian waveform decomposition algorithm of detecting instrument echo signal. The fourth part introduces the exploration LiDAR software independently developed by Professor Zhou Guoqing's team. This lecture provided an opportunity for teachers and students to learn more about the waveforms decomposition methods of water depth detection LiDAR, and also stimulated their interest in this field. After the report, the teachers and students actively asked questions and had a heated discussion with teacher Zhou Guoqing.
