This competition, hosted by the China Geographical Society and the School of Geography, Geographical Science, and Urban Planning at Sun Yat-sen University, had the theme "Regional Commonalities and Characteristics." It aimed to encourage geography science students to comprehend the scientific connotations, convey the values of our era, grasp the crucial significance of the carrying capacity of resources, and suitability for territorial spatial development in optimizing the pattern for protecting territorial space development. These efforts contribute to national implementation of the system for protecting territorial space development, integrating mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, grasslands, and sands into a single cohesive unit for comprehensive conservation, and systematic governance.

The College of Earth and Environmental Sciences has consistently placed a strong emphasis on nurturing research and practical innovation capabilities among undergraduates. They actively encourage undergraduate students to participate in various academic competitions and foster connections with students from other domestic universities, contributing to a favorable environment for cultivating high-quality talents in the college.
