Students from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences Win the 15th Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Scholarship

From May 31 to June 1, 2024, the 15th Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Scholarship Award Ceremony and the inaugural "Pan Jiazheng Cup" University Students' Speech Contest were held at Dalian University of Technology, organized by the Chinese Society for Hydropower Engineering and the Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Science and Technology Fund Management Committee. Our graduate student Lin Geng and undergraduates Huang Zhuo and Chen Xiangdong won the Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Scholarship. Lin Geng and Chen Xiangdong attended the award ceremony on behalf of the recipients, while undergraduate Bai Yunhui participated in the speech contest and won the Excellence Award.

The award ceremony recognized 44 undergraduates and 21 graduate students from 20 universities and research institutions nationwide. Attendees included Zong Dunfeng, Chairman of the Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Science and Technology Fund Management Committee; Lin Gao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences at Dalian University of Technology; Zhang Chi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dalian University of Technology; Zheng Sheng'an, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chinese Society for Hydropower Engineering; along with leaders and experts from the Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Science and Technology Fund Management Committee and Dalian University of Technology, who presented the awards to the winning students.

   

On the afternoon of May 31, the inaugural "Pan Jiazheng Cup" University Students' Speech Contest commenced. Our student Bai Yunhui delivered a speech titled "The Waters of the Yellow River Nourish the Mountains and Rivers, the Jingdian Spirit Will Last Forever," calling on young students to inherit the Yellow River culture and contribute to the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin.

The Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Science and Technology Fund, named after the renowned hydropower and water conservancy expert and academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. Pan Jiazheng, was initiated jointly by the Chinese Society for Hydropower Engineering and China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Corporation. The fund is a public welfare special fund established with donations from 42 enterprises and institutions within the national hydropower and water conservancy system. Its aim is to promote innovation in hydropower technology and the cultivation of talent. The Pan Jiazheng Hydropower Scholarship aims to uphold Mr. Pan Jiazheng's spirit of "loyalty and dedication, pragmatism and innovation," rewarding undergraduates and graduate students who are passionate about the hydropower and water conservancy industry, demonstrate excellent academic and moral qualities, and exhibit a strong innovative spirit.
