Successful Hosting of the Lanzhou University Western Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank Writing Training Forum

On July 3rd, the Lanzhou University Western Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank Writing Training Forum was successfully held in Room 301 of the Guanyun Building, West Campus, Chengguan District. Experts and scholars from government departments, research institutions, and the university’s faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions on the theme of "Ecological Think Tank Construction and Sustainable Development."

The forum was divided into three stages. The first stage featured keynote speeches, moderated by Professor Jiao Jizong from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University. Associate Professor Wang Meimei, Secretary of the Western Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank and faculty member of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, introduced the Western Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank's construction. Participating experts shared common issues and strategies in writing decision-making consultation reports.

The second stage consisted of thematic reports, co-moderated by Professors Ma Zhenbang and Ye Weifeng from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University. Dr. Sun Xuwei, Deputy Director of the Gansu Provincial Academy of Eco-Environmental Sciences and Design, Dr. Kou Leilei, Secretary of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Human and Environment Research Center at Lanzhou University, Professor Wang Shengli, and Associate Professor Jia Zhuo from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, presented on various topics. These included comprehensive management issues and countermeasures of soil erosion in the Yellow River Basin, the alignment of vocational education talent supply with rural revitalization needs, ecological environment issues of desert photovoltaic power stations in the upper Yellow River, and policy recommendations for supporting relatively poor relocated households in the implementation of provincial ecological and geological disaster avoidance relocation projects. Following these, graduate students Ma Xing and Li Chongbin from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University, and Deng Zhe from the School of Mathematics and Statistics at Northwest Normal University, delivered thematic reports on topics such as the characteristics and impact of provincial agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in China on carbon neutrality goals, the environmental risks of atmospheric deposition in Lanzhou City and preventive measures, and issues and countermeasures related to health check-ups for rural residents at the county level in Gansu Province. Officials from relevant departments of the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government provided insightful comments and improvement suggestions on the reports.

The third stage was a roundtable discussion, chaired by Zhao Chunhui, Deputy Director of the Western Environment and Ecological Security Think Tank. Experts exchanged views on current research results and practical issues in the field of ecological security and environmental protection, proposing feasible countermeasures and suggestions to enhance the quality and impact of decision-making consultation reports.

The forum not only improved the writing skills of the participants but also provided valuable experience and reference for future decision-making consultation report writing. The event concluded successfully amid enthusiastic discussions.
