Faculty, Students, and Alumni of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences Actively Participate in the 2024 China Geography Conference and the 115th Anniversary of the Geographical Society of China

On September 27, the 2024 China Geography Conference and the 115th Anniversary of the Geographical Society of China were held in Nanjing, focusing on the theme of "Development and Innovation in Geography." Over 3,000 scholars from more than 500 universities, research institutions, and enterprises, both domestic and international, attended the event. Professor Chen Fahu, Distinguished Professor of Lanzhou University and President of the Geographical Society of China, participated in the conference. More than 100 faculty members, students, and alumni from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences attended the meeting, gathering in Nanjing to discuss the development of geography.

The conference also featured the awarding ceremony for the 2024 Fellows of the Geographical Society of China. Professor Gou Xiaohua, Vice President of Lanzhou University, and Professor Zhao Pengjun, a distinguished alumnus of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, were elected as Fellows for 2024.

During the conference, the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, as a governing unit, set up a booth in the exhibition area to fully showcase the academic achievements in geography at Lanzhou University, promote the university's talent recruitment policies, and display the spirit and ethos of the school.

Throughout the event, faculty, students, and alumni from the school actively participated in various sub-forums, organizing several oral presentations and poster sessions. Some young faculty members enthusiastically took part in the National Training Program for Young Geography Teachers, sharing the latest progress in geography made by Lanzhou University in relevant fields, which was highly recognized by international colleagues in the field of geography.
