Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier jointly updated the standardized citation metrics database of scientific authors and released the seventh edition of the Global Top 2% Scientists List 2024. Professor Guan Qingyu from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University has been named on the "Annual Scientific Impact Ranking" in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences for two consecutive years, in both 2023 and 2024.
The list is based on citation data analysis from the Scopus database and evaluates six key indicators, including the number of citations, H-index, co-authorship-adjusted HM index, and the number of citations for papers where the scientist is the sole or first author. From nearly 7 million scientists, it selects the top 2% globally. The rankings include two major categories: "Career Impact" and "Annual Impact." Professor Guan's research focuses on major ecological and environmental issues in the arid and semi-arid regions of northwest China. His long-term work covers areas such as soil heavy metal pollution, the biogeochemical cycling of soil environments, atmospheric particulate matter and its impact on arid environments, vegetation remote sensing and ecological protection, as well as climate and land use change. He has contributed significantly to improving modern ecological and environmental monitoring systems in key regions, providing strong scientific support for decision-making in environmental protection.
