Recently, Dr. Li Guoqiang and Academician Chen Fahu, published an article entitled 'A Tianshan Mountains loess-paleosol sequence indicates anti-phase climatic variations in arid central Asia and in East Asia' onEarth and Planetary Science Letters. This study proves that the climate change in the arid region of Central Asia during the last interglacial period is mainly controlled by the westerly circulation, which further indicates that there is also a “westerly mode” for climate change during this period.
