Expert Profile:

Dr. Li Wei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth System Science at Tsinghua University and a doctoral supervisor. He was selected for the National High-Level Young Talents Program in 2019 and received the Tsinghua University-Lenovo Group Computational Earth Science Young Talent Award in the same year. His research interests include land use change and carbon cycling, forest disturbances, carbon neutrality, and climate change mitigation. His research has revealed the multifaceted mechanisms of tropical forest degradation and biophysical processes. Using a self-developed model and database for bioenergy crops, he has elucidated the carbon sequestration potential and climate effects of future energy crop cultivation. He has published over 90 SCI papers with more than 7000 citations on Google Scholar. Several of his first/corresponding authored papers have been published in high-impact journals such as Nature Geoscience, Nature Communications, Nature Sustainability, and PNAS.
