Tong Lianjun is a researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the executive editor-in-chief of the authoritative geographical journal "Geographical Sciences." He is an alumnus of Lanzhou University, Class of 1983, and a part-time professor at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has served as a council member of the seventh council of the Geographical Society of China, deputy director of the Committee on Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development of the Geographical Society of China, deputy director of the Journal Editorial Committee of the Geographical Society of China, deputy director of the Northeast Economic Research Committee of the Chinese Regional Science Association, and a member of the Decision-making Advisory Committee of the Changchun Municipal People's Government. He has led four projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
