At the invitation of Professor Dong Guanghui from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lanzhou University, Associate Researcher Yang Jian from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology visited our university for academic exchange and present a report on September 13, 2024.

Title: Recent Advances in Neolithic Archaeology in the Ningxia Region

Expert Profile:

Yang Jian is an Associate Researcher at the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology. He graduated from Zhengzhou University with a master’s degree in archaeology, focusing on Neolithic archaeology. He has led important archaeological excavations at sites such as Shatangbeiyuan in Longde, Zhoujiazuitou in Longde, and Nantun in Guyuan. Additionally, he has directed systematic regional archaeological surveys in key areas such as the Yuhe River Basin in Longde, the western slopes of the Liupan Mountains, the Luoshan region, and the Qingshui River Basin in Ningxia. He has overseen one National Social Science Fund project and participated in two provincial-level social science fund projects. He is in charge of the Ningxia sector of the "Archaeology China: Settlement and Society Research in the Hetao Region" project. Yang has been recognized as an Outstanding Cultural Relics Worker in Ningxia and has been selected for the Ningxia Talent Development Program. He has edited and published two archaeological reports and authored more than ten academic papers.
