At the invitation of Professor Wei Liang from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences and the Key Laboratory of Western China's Environmental Systems, Ministry of Education, Researcher Zhang Jianwei from the Pacific Southwest Research Station of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service will visit our school for academic exchange and present a lecture. All faculty and students are welcome to attend.

Reporter Profile: Zhang Jianwei is a researcher at the Pacific Southwest Research Station of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service (retired in 2024). His primary research areas include forest ecology, forest management, afforestation, and forest fires. He is a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Forest Vegetation Management Conference. As a pioneer in the study of plant stable isotopes in the 1990s, he has published over 100 papers. He has led several long-term forest research projects in California, USA. His research focuses on the response of forest ecosystems to climate change, increases in greenhouse gases, land use/management, fires, and biological disturbances. The main objective is to understand how the structure, function, biodiversity, and sustainability of forest and grassland ecosystems change and how these changes affect ecosystem services.
