At the invitation of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lanzhou University, Assistant Professor Zhang Chi from the University of Vienna visited our school for academic exchanges and delivered a lecture.
Title: Pore to Watershed: Unveiling the Critical Zone through Geophysical Applications
Reporter: Assistant Professor Zhang Chi, University of Vienna
Time: 9:30 AM, Thursday, July 4, 2024
Venue: Room 1615, Guanyun Building
Reporter Profile:
Dr. Chi Zhang is a hydrogeophysicist specializing in the study of complex fluid-rock interactions using geoelectrics, nuclear magnetic resonance, and modeling tools. Before joining the University of Vienna as a tenure-track assistant professor and group leader of Environmental Geophysics, Dr. Zhang was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology at The University of Kansas, US. His research interests lie in understanding the tightly coupled physical, chemical, and biological processes that govern the behavior of geologic media and their constituent fluids (water, brine, CO2, and hydrocarbons) from the micro- to macro-scale. Currently, Dr. Zhang's work focuses on understanding water distribution, weathering, and geochemical fluxes in carbonate rocks. He has published as the first or corresponding author in leading geophysics journals such as Geophysics, Journal of Geophysical Research, Water Resources Research, Geophysical Research Letters, Environmental Science and Technology, and others.
